Cartoons in the Era of Political Correctness

It seems that the world has gone mad (what a revelation). Last summer we observed a Danish cartoonist get skewered by Muslims because of his simple depictions of Muhammad in cartoon form. Seems you can trash everyone except for Muhammad. Interesting.

Now we have a new “controversy”. A New York Times cartoonist published a cartoon depicting two police officers shooting the errant monkey that attacked a woman in Stanford, CT. The caption on the cartoon said, “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.” Some, hopefully a small some, thought the NYT was referring to President Obama as the monkey. There is one problem with this analogy – President Obama didn’t write the stimulus bill – congress did. All Obama did was sign the boondoggle. I guess we can assume the cartoonist was referring to the monkeys in congress. Apt comparison I believe.

When are we going to stop being so overly sensitive about everything any slight change to the norm “offends” us. As we go further into the PC abyss, I wonder where this nutty behavior will stop. I say, get a grip and get a life.

Of course, that is just my opinion.

Santelli’s Tea Party – I’m In

Mr. Obama, are you listening?

If you haven’t heard Rick Santelli’s rant from the Chicago Board of Trade floor regarding the idea of a mortgage bailout, it is worth a couple minutes of your time. He says it all in a few short minutes summing up the frustrations of average Americans (those outside Washington).

How many “bailouts” and “stimulus bills” can we handle. We’re already printing the money to cover these boondoggles because we can’t afford any of it. What happened to personal responsibility? How about letting these people who overextended themselves to fail? If I treated my children like the government is treating it’s citizens, he will grow up to be an incompetent wimp.

Failure is the first step to success and we need to let people fail so they can pull themselves up to success.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Megyn Kelly Vs. Bill Press

I’ll have to admit, I like Megyn Kelly for more than her reporting. Beautiful yet feisty. What a combination. I don’t think that’s the impression Bill Press received when he was confronted by her regarding the Fairness Doctrine.

If you don’t know about this initiative, here it is in a nutshell:

– Liberals feel that there is an “imbalance” in the market place with much of talk radio dominated by conservative leaning programs. They tend to forget that most of the media outlets (newspaper, television news, public tv and radio, et. al.) are mostly liberally bent.

– They want to impose fascist like rules on talk stations to have a “balance” in programming

– If this passes, talk radio as we know it will disappear. Have you ever listened to NPR? Nuff said.

My question to all of this nonsense would be – would there be a reciprocating requirement on the liberal talk shows? Would we see balance on NPR, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC? I think not. These arrogant outfits believe they are balanced in their reporting – unfortunately they have forgotten what an OP-ED page really is and transformed it into the main stream news.

What happened to free will to choose what you want to listen to? If I want to listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, no one is forcing me to tune into their programs. I seek them out because I enjoy the converstation and opinion. If I want music, I’ll tune into the local Rock Station. My choice. I’m sure this is all part of the Messiah’s plan to continue the socialization of America, but Bill Press is too stupid and clueless to actually get it.

Of course, this is just my opinion.
