Hey Congressman Dufus, Guam is not a canoe! It’s not going to tip into the ocean. Someone needs to give this guy a simple lesson on what an island is and is not.
How in the world did the Military individual keep a straight face. He deserves some kind of award for that!
I traveled to the site a couple of years ago during a visit to NYC. We were amazed at the lack of building on the site and it pretty much looked like it did when it was cleaned up. What a waste.
The most highly anticipated Super Bowl ad prior to the big game was the Focus on the Family clip that included Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mom. For weeks, all the talk has been that this is a Pro-Life ad and that CBS is negligent in allowing the ad to run. Now that the ad has run, I really don’t see the problem. My wife and I looked at each other last night and almost in unison said, “What’s the big deal?” You can judge for yourself.
Planned Parenthood decided to create their own ad with a couple of athletes. I have no idea if they actually saw the ad (Tebow ad) before it aired, but their ad seems a little out of sorts, in my opinion, but everyone has the opportunity to create their own ad and post it on Youtube.
If Planned Parenthood really wanted to diminish the value of the ad they would have just let it run. By focusing attention on the ad they guaranteed that millions would be sure to watch it, just to see what all the hubbub was about. I would say that Focus on the Family really got their money’s worth in advance publicity and continued exposure of the ad on Youtube with over 120,000 hits since yesterday. Gloria Allred will also push the ad to epic status. I’m not sure that was what she was going for, but it’s all publicity for her.
An article from Elizabeth Hovde in the opinion page of the The Oregonian newspaper ran last week outlining the “controversy.” Here is a snippet:
The idea that a mom of a famous athlete is going to be in an ad praising her choice to carry her child to full term has wrongly infuriated some people, including Gloria Allred. The pro-choice heroine and lawyer is busy trying to paint Pam Tebow a liar, saying because the Philippines outlaws abortion, she finds it hard to believe that doctors would recommend the procedure. (Never mind that Pam Tebow was an American who knew that in her home country abortions were routine procedures in 1987. And never mind that plenty of women had abortions in America long before they became legal. Has Allred forgotten her own arguments for and our own nation’s history with abortion? Abortions can be obtained, regardless of the law.)
Allred is threatening to file a complaint with the FTC and the FCC if the ad airs without disclosing that abortions were illegal in the Philippines at the time Pam Tebow made her choice. She is making a huge mistake attacking a woman for making statements that Allred can’t possibly disprove. And she’s revealing herself to be anti-choice in deciding that Pam Tebow’s choice isn’t worth hearing.
I for one am all for ads just like this one that are tastefully done. No where in the ad was there some call to action or chiding others for having abortions. CBS has discretion to accept or reject whatever ad they choose. They are a somewhat left leaning network in their news division but the marketing people obviously know the makeup of the country and decided to let this ad run. By rejecting an ad from a gay dating site they also revealed that they knew this would cause problems. I’d say they made a smart business decision but we’ll see when the ratings come in.
I have traveled to Detroit numerous times on my way to western Ontario. The best view of Detroit, in my opinion, is from Windsor, Ontario looking across the water. As you will see in the video from Steven Crowder, Detroit is really the “Armpit of America” brought to you by the UAW and liberal politicians.
Alright, it wasn’t exactly a full blown history test but they didn’t pass anything with flying colors.
One of my favorites, Steven Crowder, hit another home run. He traveled to the #1 institution in America – UC Berkeley to ask some questions of the smartest students in the land.
My favorite part is around 8:45 asking the single payer option students if Mary Jo Kopechne was in support of the public option (they were using Ted Kennedy’s image to promote the group.) Also, I was a little surprised that none of these “enlightened” students indicated that Barack Obama was their favorite president. Very interesting.
That’s right, all of you dirty “teabaggers” (preferred term of the left wing nuts describing the Tea Party Protesters) should just go Flag Yourself. Yes, the fancy government whistle blower program is still in effect to alert the jack-booted thugs (probably from the SEIU) that you don’t like the proposed government health plan, health insurance (or whatever it’s being called this week.)
Great video from Crowder and crew:
Interview with Mike Pence (R) from Indiana:
Now I still don’t feel that warm and cozy feeling inside about this flagging or fishy program. “Boob” Gibbs tells us that “nobody is collecting names.” OK, then why the special email addresses to report on your neighbors that don’t swallow the crap being shoveled out of Washington? Yeah, I believe Boob. I’ve also got a bridge to sell you.
If you feel compelled, go ahead and send your email to flag@whitehouse.gov or fishy@whitehouse.gov. Feel free to pass along my columns. Make sure to include my picture with the email so the union thugs know who to drag away to the “Health Care Re-education” camps.
I just had to post this. Brings perspective to the idea that “Angry Mobs” are taking over the Town Hall meetings.
I guess the marching orders from the liberal groups and the DNC is that these citizens are uninformed by the usual “right wing” characters: Rush, Beck, Hannity, O’Reilly, etc., etc. I expected something more original from the left. Same old stuff – demean the protesters, call them bigots and racists and get your buddies in the media to help spread the lies. Guess that’s just wishful thinking on my part to move past the tired old tactics.
I received an email from a charter member of the Rob’s Rant Revolution highlighting the difference between the first pitches of President Obama and President Bush. Before you send me hate mail, this is just for fun – but very interesting if you like Baseball.
President Bush – First Pitch
2-Seam Fastball. Will cut down-and away. The typical strikeout pitch.
Power-T position before the throw. Generates hip drive for max. velocity.
Eyes on the target.
Pitching hand cocked back so batter can’t see ball during delivery.
Business slacks. He ain’t here to play, hes gonna break the catchers hand.
ASSESSMENT
Strike three – batter looking. Fastball looked inside coming towards plate then broke away on the inside corner.
Eyes and mouth show fear that a batter will actually be in there to knock it 603 feet..
Pitching hand open so batter can see ball during delivery.
Blue jeans? When they asked him to throw out the first pitch he wrote a speech.
ASSESSMENT
This ball will be hit so far it will need a flight attendant.
***SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON***
Interesting. I suppose this is why we didn’t actually see the pitch to into the glove of Pujols’ glove at the All-Star Game. Also, I guess it helps that Bush 43 owned part of an MLB team at one time.
I have no idea who credit this email to, but I’ll be glad to if I find out. Thanks in advance – I got a good laugh on this one.
Crowder and Zo are at it again. This time they tackle the Republican stereotype weaved by all those lazy people on the left. You know, all those fair minded people like…Keith Olbermann…Rachel Maddow…Chris Matthews…etc…etc..etc. that nobody actually watches.
After all we’re just all a bunch of red neck hicks in our pickup trucks chewing tobacco and having fun with farm animals.
