Arizona Governor Takes First Shot On Illegal Immigration

The issue of illegal immigration has been around as long as I’ve been alive, and then some.  There have always been those who live in the shadows that have come to the United States for a better life.  I’ve been to Mexico and have seen the squalor that many in the country lives in every day.  If I lived in a third-world country like Mexico, I would probably do what I could to escape that life.  That being said, they are still breaking the law by entering the United States illegally.

Those that simply want this “problem” to go away wish to grant amnesty to all of those 12-20 million illegals who reside in the land of the free and home of the brave.  If my memory serves me right, this idea has been tried before in the 1980’s.  I recall that President Reagan granted amnesty to several million illegals.  Wow, that sure took care of the problem!

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz has his take on what we should do to “fix” the problem.

I have no idea if this new law in Arizona establishing harsher penalties on illegals will do the trick, but it sounds like the residents of the state have had enough (70 percent support the measure.)  Some of the provisions discussed in the media sound a little hard to utilize, but it is a start.

Here is the problem I have with the whole amnesty deal – it doesn’t solve the problem! Anyone can go down the the local Home Depot and hire an illegal immigrant to do some yard work or off the books labor.  The area I live in has several major orchards – I seriously doubt all of those fruit pickers are legal, but that is just mere speculation on my part.  Granting amnesty to millions of illegals (stress on the word ILLEGAL) might bring them out of the shadows but will do nothing about the growing ranks of the unemployed.  I wonder why President Obama is so hacked off.  Hmmm…..

For immigration reform to work it has to be a concerted effort.  The Federal Government has demonstrated they have no interest in pissing off the Latino community (I’m not convinced that that would actually happen, but what do I know) and seems to have little interest in actually fixing the problem.  Hard choices have to be made and no one seems willing to buck up.  That’s called kicking the ball down the field.

I’ll take this opportunity to republish my plan to help curb illegal immigration from my post on March 14, 2009:

If I were President of the United States, here would be my 5-Point plan:

1. Send US troops down to the border to stop the flow of illegals.

2. Make sure the fence is secure with no gaps.  If we do some type of environmental damage, so be it.  The illegals inflict more damage near the border than anyone else.

3. Go after employers that hire illegals and fine them, maybe put the owners in jail.  Start with the big companies and work you way down.  With the threat there, many of the problems will cure themselves.  Plenty of jobs for Americans presently out of work.

4. Deny any social benefits to illegals.  If it’s an emergency situation, treat the injury, and send them packing.  If a child has been born here and is considered a US citizen, let them go packing also.  Parents who come to the US to have a child just so they are US Citizens is a ridiculous idea and should be repealed.

5. Continue to enforce the laws currently on the books and strike the term “Amnesty” from our language.  Amnesty policies only create more illegals.  (Hear that Reagan and W?)

Sounds as good today as when I wrote it last year.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Racists in SEIU – No Kidding!

Here in St. Louis we have witnessed the racism displayed (on video) by members of the SEIU union. We now have a SEIU Vice President indicating the same type of things from the white members. The actual term he uses is “white union members are so f***ing rabidly racist.” How nice.

Those Crazy Baptists

The Westboro Baptist Church has really over stayed their welcome, if they ever were welcome anywhere.  These are the people who protest at the funerals of fallen military personnel.  Shameless and ridiculous.

I’m not a Baptist, but I feel sorry for the real Baptists that have to put up with these jacklegs spewing their hate.  Just once I wish the finger of God would come down out of the heavens and tell these idiots – Hey dipwad, love the sinner hate the sin.  Sorry, that would make too much sense.

I heard the plight of the Snyder family on a local radio show a couple of days ago.  This family actually took this Church to court and were ordered to pay the court costs.  The story has since broke nationally and many people have started to give to the family’s legal fund.  Here is a brief synopsis:

Matthew Snyder, of Finksburg, Maryland, died from a non combat-related vehicle accident in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Combat Service Support Group-1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on March 3, 2006. Matthew was 20 years old.
Matthew graduated from Westminster High School in 2003. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marines on October 14, 2003, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. In August of 2004, Matthew was assigned to Combat Logistics Batallion-7, Twentynine Palms, Calif. as a generator mechanic.

“He was a hero and he was the love of my life.” – Albert Snyder, Matthew’s Father

The family of Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder, US Marine Corps, has begun this civil lawsuit* against Mr. Phelps and certain members of the so-called Westboro Baptist Church to bring an end to the reign of terror and abuse that they inflicted upon the grieving families of US service members killed in defense of our nation. Using innocent children to deliver their twisted message of hatred and fear, the defendants in this suit have sought to attack the memory of our departed heroes, to strip their loved ones of their dignity, and to use abuse and intimidation as a tool for preventing surviving family members from reaching closure over their loss.

It is the sincere hope of Mr. Al Snyder, Matthew’s father, that this suit will spark similar legal actions against Mr. Phelps wherever he seeks to inflict harm upon the memory of our heroes and their families. If you feel strongly that such actions should be stopped, please consider a donation to help offset the legal expenses of bringing this suit.

*This is a private civil lawsuit that is separate from any actions being pursued by states or the federal government against Mr. Phelps. While those cases involve Government action and potential 1st Amendment issues, this case is distinct. This case simply alleges that one does not have the right to conspire to use lies in order to inflict intentional harm upon persons who are grieving the death of their children.

If you feel like giving to the legal fund, here is the link: www.matthewsnyder.org.  Thank God for the Patriot Guard.

English Only For Missouri Driving Tests

I’m a big proponent for the citizens of the United States to speak English. For now, English is our main language. There is no problem, in my opinion, with individuals conversing with others in their native language, but they need to assimilate and speak the national language.State Rep. Cynthia Davis of Missouri, a Missouri Congresswoman, is pushing the Missouri State Highway Patrol to offer driver’s license examinations only in English. She has introduced a bill to do just this.

From The Suburban Journal:

Davis said she was surprised by the steps taken by the highway patrol to accommodate non-English speakers in a state where in 2008 voters approved a constitutional amendment making English the official language at all public meetings. In addition to testing in foreign languages, she said, those who don’t speak any of the 12 languages may hire a translator from a state-approved list and have the test read to them in their native language.

How do these people read all the street signs? Just a question.

Rep. Weiner is a Weener

I always think that it is funny when public officials refuse to answer questions.  It happens on both sides, but this time it’s on the left.

Bill O’Reilly had Rep. Anthony Weiner on his show earlier in the week.  Bill asked a simple question about the fines that will be levied on taxpayers who refuse to get health insurance.  As you will see from the clip below, he just didn’t answer.

What a supreme jerk.  Big mean Bill O’Reilly always beats up on the helpless little Rep. Weiner and never let’s him talk.  Boo Hoo. I think that Mr. O’Reilly showed great patience with the Congressman during this interview, even though he never did answer the question and actually stretched the truth about who enforces the law and some other details.

In case you were curious, it is the IRS that will be charged with assessing the fines.  There’s your answer Bill (and Rep. Weiner.)

I Thought We Were Post-Racial

A pseudo-controversy erupted this week when a Wal-Mart in Louisiana decided to mark down black Barbies to $3.00, 1/2 of the former price.   The race-baiters took the story and cried racism.  Sounds more like something called retail economics and inventory control to me – I guess that makes me a racist.

Are you kidding Cafferty?  Wal-Mart values white parents rather than black parents?  Wal-Mart values green (money) more than anything.

From a Wal-Mart spokesperson:

“To prepare for (s)pring inventory, a number of items are marked for clearance, ” spokeswoman Melissa O’Brien said in an e-mail. “… Both are great dolls. The red price sticker indicates that this particular doll was on clearance when the photo was taken, and though both dolls were priced the same to start, one was marked down due to its lower sales to hopefully increase purchase from customers.”

“Pricing like items differently is a part of inventory management in retailing,” O’Brien said.

Marking the price down would make the dolls more accessible to parents.  Where is the problem here. I wonder what the cry would have been if the white Barbie was cheaper than the black one?  They would sell out the white Barbies, that is what would happen.

Wal-Mart is a business interested in making as much money as possible.  If they thought a product would sell at a higher price and increase their margin, they would do it.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Massa Is a Kook Deluxe

I didn’t get to see the Eric Massa interview with Glenn Beck earlier this week, but I wish I had.  This was great TV highlighting a complete and utter idiot.  I really wish he was still in the House because he is a kook, good fun for all.

You can judge for yourself from this video:

How did this guy get elected in the first place?  The only thing I can figure is that he acted like the crazy girlfriend all guys know about.  Things are wonderful for a while and you can’t believe no one has grabbed this wonderful looking girl.  You seem to have all kinds of things in common and you are having a great time, until… that fateful day when you figure out that she is stone cold bat crazy. (You can tell this if you can see the entire colored part of the eyeball.)  By then it is too late as you can’t get rid of her and witness relocation seems like a great idea.  Fortunately, I haven’t had to deal with this – but know plenty of guys (and gals) who have.

If I got into a “tickle fight” with any one of my friends I would end up in the ER with various contusions and broken bones – and for good reason.  When Arianna Huffington feels sorry for you, things have gone really really bad.

At least no one else has to spend any time with this moron.  I think Mr. Beck should be thanked for taking one for the team.

The Sham Wow Summit From Redstate

I found this article on Redstate.com.  I just had to repost it.

There are many reasons the Republican Party is often referred to as the Stupid Party. Many Republicans thought that after the President overshadowed the GOP at their Baltimore retreat last month, going to Blair House yesterday would just be another PR disaster.

It was anything but.

The GOP won the day so convincingly that even the traditional media had to praise the party for talking issues.

Contrast that with Barack Obama who scowled, berated, lied, and harassed the attendees — not to mention filibustered them.

In the most ironic moment of the day, Barack Obama lectured Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor on having the Democrats’ 2,700+ page health care bill on his desk at the meeting. Obama called it a “prop.” At the same time, Democrats were in the newspapers admitting that, in effect, Barack Obama was using the GOP as a prop in a vain effort to show bipartisanship on health care.

There is bipartisanship on health care. There is bipartisan opposition to it. The Democrats must realize today that they would get nothing out of the meeting. They will now try to force health care deform through Congress on a majority vote in each house.

Only a couple of years ago, Barack Obama praised the filibuster claiming it was what the founding fathers wanted to prevent the tyranny of the majority. Now he is intent on ignoring the filibuster and ramming through health care deform.

If nothing else, today shows the American public that the Republicans have a better agenda, better ideas, and are willing to stand up and oppose a reckless scheme that will increase health care costs.

Well said.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Olbermann Is Asked To Kill His Father

Sorry to put two posts from Keith Olbermann one after the other, but I just had to post this video.  If nothing else, he is a great resource for a blog like mine.

Mr. Olbermann went on his show during the Special Comment section and talked about his ill father.  The story is the same as many families have experienced with a loved one who is terminally ill.  These patients go through many tribulations and their families are stretched very thin.  I don’t wish that type of situation on anyone, even Mr. Olbermann.

Here is what I take from the end of this story (if you stayed with the video that long.)  Keith told us about his father’s interest in just having the plug pulled (he wanted Keith to kill him to end the suffering.)  He brought up the talk of Death Panels and that no one should have the say whether treatment should be stopped.  Who is doing this right now with the current health care system?  No one.

Whether there will be some kind of “death panel” or other entity deciding on end of life decisions is up for speculation.  If a bill actually gets passed and signed into law, we’ll see where that goes.  If the government is involved in the system, whether directly or just paying the bills, you can bet there will be some type of involvement in treatment decisions.  I’d much rather have a private health insurance company deciding my fate or that of my family than some government worker or panel, but that is just my preference.

I assume that Mr. Olbermann just felt like taking some kind of cheap shot at the “ghouls” as he calls them (that’s code for the hated Republicans.)  So be it.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Keith Olbermann, Have You No Shame!

I love this video. It really puts things in perspective with regards to MSNBC and their idea of diversity. Yes, I know, they have non-white analysts and guests, but their anchor lineup looks a little pasty. I’m just sayin’.

This is from the Dallas Tea Party:

Mr. Olbermann has been very critical of the Tea Party Protests wondering where the people of color are at these events. Well, Keith, the gauntlet has been laid down. I can’t wait to see your attendance and coverage at the Dallas event.

If you are not Keith Olbermann and are in the Dallas area, consider attending this event.  It will be held on Saturday, February 27 from 12 Noon – 2pm at the Dallas City Hall.  They have some great speakers coming including Steven Crowder, Alfonzo Rachel among other great guests.

I Confess, I’m in the Tea Party Cult

I honestly didn’t realize I was in a cult.  I guess in addition to the fact that I’m supposedly a racist and a homophobe (yes, I’ve been called both for some reason), I’m also in the Tea Party Cult (or Teabagger if you choose to use the sexual term coined by the wacknut left.)

Bill Maher had dubbed those who oppose taxes and growing the government who decide to attend a Tea Party protest are not really in a movement, but are a part of a cult.  I found that really interesting since I went to one of the first Tea Party events held in St. Louis last February (and brought my kids) along with one held on April 15, 2009. Actually, I never thought that I was in a movement but rather concerned about the out of control spending from not only the left, but also the right.

I didn’t realize my taxes have gone down.  I must have missed this one, but I do live in the Socialist Republic of Illinois so maybe this doesn’t apply to me.  I suppose we’ll feel the real pinch when the Bush tax cuts expire next year.  Ouch!

From NewsBusters:

The teabaggers, they’re not a movement. They’re a cult, and I’m going to prove it. You know someone has fallen into a cult if you see these signs: One. Cults have their own vocabulary. Now, I don’t speak sh**kicker, but I know that in their world, freedom means guns, diplomacy means weakness, elitist means reader, and socialist means black.

Two. Cults tend to populate from within.encouraging members to have huge broods of children and to give them strange names, like Moonbeam, and Trig.

And three, cult members always attribute all of their problems to one simple explanation: [picture of Obama with Hitler moustache].

Well there you have it.  Me: Illiterate Racist Hick, Unabashed Homophobe & Cult Member.

Attention Teabagger Cultists: I have received word from above that the great Tea Bag is coming back to take all the good Tea Baggers back to Hickland to live eternity shooting guns, chewing tobacco and smashing things with Monster Trucks.  Sounds like a blast!  Hooo Weee.  See you there.
